Manufacturers in South Carolina

My 80 year old Mother wants to put a double wide on her property. I want to buy quality but at the same time her continued ability to live independently is unknown. When she is no longer living there, the home will be sold and removed from the land. I know this greatly reduces the value but the land must remain in the family and it's easier to be a long distance land owner than landlord. With that in mind, can you please rank the following in the SC area: Clayton, LUV (I know they are the same company but seem to have different pricing), Fleetwood and Palm Harbor. I have already bought the book and ready to work on my negotiation techniques.

At the top of this forum you will find a "Search" link. Click on the link and where it says "Last 30 Days" click on the right arrow and select 6 months. Then enter one of the MH names you mentioned, like Fleetwood, then click on search. You will get a list of all the messages discussing the "Fleetwood" MH on this forum for the last 6 months. Do this for each of MH you listed. This should provide you with a wealth of info.

Hello Missa,

The Midwest region seems to follows the HUD standards closely and for this reason you’ll probably have to add some structural features. This region is the heart of the manufactured housing industry with many choices. But many companies fall into the average to poor construction category so be on guard. My favorites in this region would be Commodore Homes, Wick Building Systems, Patriot Homes, Schult/Marlette, BonnaVilla, Palm Harbor, Fuqua, Hart Homes and Dutch Housing. In the Southeast region many of the manufacturers follow the HUD standards closely but there are a few that exceed the HUD codes. My favorite manufacturers in this region would be Homes of Merit, Jacobsen Homes, R-Anell and Palm Harbor. Hope this helps.
