list of Mobile Home Manufacturers in NC?

Post by Ralph » Mon Dec 03, 2001 2:45 pm

I am wanting to begin the process of touring mobile home manufacturers in North Carolina. Is there a list (by state perhaps) of names of mobile home manufacturers and their addresses somewhere on the WWW?

Thanks!

Ralph

Randy why are you suggesting Commodore Homes when at the beginning of Oct. you said that they were average at best and that they cut alot of corners.

Commodore's web site has a wonderful section called, “Take a Tour.” I recommend everybody spend some time and look at how a Commodore home is built. It will help you understand what goes into a quality built manufactured home at, www.commodorehomes.com/goshen/tourpage1.htm Commodore has some attractive floor plans and I like the residential appeal of the homes. I have some reservations about a few items. The 100 amp service to me seems weak and may not be enough if you’re considering a garage, hot tub and other items that require additional power. There is no mention of fastening the electrical boxes to wall studs. The 2/3 interior wall studs fall into the poor construction category and I would try to up-grade to 2x4 interior wall studs if possible. I don’t like those vinyl covered gypsum walls that come standard in many of their models. They are flimsy and cheap and could prove to be toxic during a fire. I would up-grade these features and by doing so I believe Commodore would be hard to beat. The average price for a Commodore is between $45 to $55 per square foot. This company is marketing to upper-end buyers and if you want a home that looks like a site-built home with many of the same features then Commodore would be an excellent choice. Probably one of the best manufacturers out there and definitely worth investigating if your budget allows.

Commodore, YIKES!!
Our first Sectional Home Was A 24x52 Commodore, The ceilings leaked, ( Condensation ) or so they said,Floor fell through, Cardboard on the out side, this was a 1986 model, All this happened with in 6 months of delivery, How ever the Mfg. did come and replace the ceiling panels, They put it over the bad, Then in 5 months all the wet spots were back, We put a new roof on it ( our expence ) new floors, carpet, and every thing else that was bad, ( Quite all lot ) This Was Our experiance with Commodore, Never again, Hope This Helps
