New Home in WA vs. OR

Post by Reggie » Mon Apr 09, 2001 2:04 pm

I currently live in Vancouver Washington, but work in Portland, Oregon. My wife and I are considering purchasing a manufactured home and putting it on a 5-acre lot. What are the pluses/minuses of living on either side of the border? For instance, I know that if I put a manufactured home on the Washington side I will have to pay sales tax (which could seriously cut into my loan options), but the property prices seem to be considerably higher on the Oregon side. Any thoughts?

Btw, Randy, if you’re reading this, we loved your book—WELL WORTH THE MONEY…I think we’ve surprised some of the home dealers with our intelligent questions as a result of reading it. :)

Thanks,
Reggie

Hello Reggie,

Thanks for the kind words. I would look at Valley Quality Homes in Yakima. I like Fuqua's Palm Harbors and upper line Marlette's. Good luck.

Hello Reggie,

I forgot to tell you about the sales tax but you probably already know the differences.
