Steps before being away during hot summer months

Post by wendy » Fri Jul 12, 2013 7:06 pm

My daughter was not able to find tenants for her mobile home while she is away for 4 months working. She has someone who can check the house weekly...what should be checked. What steps should she take while she is going to be away?
She is in the Ocala, FL area and will be away between July and November 1st.
The water is very hard and toilets really scale up so would it be ok to turn off the water at the shut off valve behind the toilets?
Thanks for any tips!

Close the water off at the shut off valve where the water comes into the house. Plumbing components can fail at any point over time.... you don't want even a small drip while the home is vacant.

Leave the electric on and the air set at 78 to 80. during the hot damp Florida summer you don't want the home to cook or become a potential place for mold to start.
