subfloor bowed

Post by xcrazykrisx06 » Sat Jul 23, 2011 11:57 am

we recently moved our mobile home to our new land and soon noticed that the floor in the kitchen was sinking. The floor is new laminate wood flooring. The floor is now bowed around the floor vents in every room what could be causing this?

Most likely the problem is excessive moisture. Did your set crew properly install a vapor barrier under the home and does the new underpinning have enough ventilation to keep the area under the home ventilated..

Also was the land properly graded to keep water from pooling under the home?

You may want to check the floor register boot connections to see if they have become dislodged, as you said you moved your home. If they have loosened and caused a/c cooled air to enter the floor cavity this could be a concern on bowed floors, especially if the floor cavity is open to the crawlspace. Check to see if your bottom board is completely intact.

At this point your warranty has most likely expired. You need to find a competent local renovator to assess the damage and replace the effected floor area.

If you are up to taking on the job you can learn how to do it yourself from The MH Manual for Repair and Renovaton
