Post by prissygirl » Tue Mar 15, 2011 10:55 am

hi,
i to bought a mobile home from a dealer here in colorado, we purchase the mobile home about a year ago, and the dealer told us they would get the title and that it would take time, well a year later we are still waiting found out that the dealer has filed bankruptcy and we have been told even though we gave them cash have a bill of sale and a contract , and that county allowed us to move the house,we got permits, we are now looking at grand theft stealing our own property, as the dealership had the home perged with the property it was on and also they had a loan on it all, we have talked to the bank, and they said they just found out about it and are not going to persue the house as they know we had no idea,so how do we protect our rights and get title? need help in colorado.

Sounds like a mess !!!

Contact:

the Colorado Department of Revenue
Motor Vehicle Dealer Board
1881 Pierce St.
Lakewood , CO 80214
(303)205-5604
Fax:(303)205-5977

In most states dealers must be bonded to be licensed to sell mfd homes. Get the name of the bonding company and contact them. If the dealer was bonded at the time of your purchase the bonding company will have some responsibly for your problem.

Did you have a lawyer at your closing? Did you purchase title insurance at your closing? If so, contact the attorney and the title company. If you did not have a closing you might want to contact a lawyer as it looks like you are going to need one.
