I am an insurance broker who has never insured a MH before. I have been asked by one my customers to insure a MH that they are about to purchase located in the State of IL. The seller of the MH has told my customer that the MH was built in 1980 but he does not have a title and evidently the metal identification plate has been removed. Therefore, the only thing my customer knows at this time about the MH he is about to purchase is that is was apparently built in 1980. Any advice on how we can proceed to try to obtain the Make/Model/SN which will give an insurance company the ability to insure this MH for my good customer? Thanks!

A 1980 MH would have been built to the HUD code. There should be a red rectangular tag on the back (opp hitch) end. If you can get the number off that tag you can get the info your looking for at the Institute for Building Technology and Safety
