looking to purchase a new home this year...have looked at a few and am wondering about the construction quality of these models...Live oak Homes, Skyline, Townhomes, and Scotbilt....of course, they all tell you "theirs is the best built"!...but what does a woman alone know! Any advice would be appreciated.

By now I assume you have checked out the books at the bookstore here. A particular one to see is here; https://ssl.xpr.com/mfdhousing/mfdcart/ ... sid=760342

The author Mr. Grissom is a regular contributor to these forums. I have seen here often where he has assured posters his books are avaiable in most libraries. Since they are the kind of books you may want to write in while reading, it would be best to invest a few bucks to get the whole scoop..There have been other questions and extensive answers here on these forums and you can find them using the search function above..When you search be sure to set the time frame to all posts..I know TownHomes, Scott built and Skyline have all recently discussed..Good Luck...

I highly recommend Mr. Grissom's books. They contain a wealth of information and are well worth the small investment. Read the books, then go shopping. I did and don't regret it a bit.
