Installing acrylic block windows?

Is it possible that when I remodel my master bathroom to cut out and install acrylic block windows above the garden tub? I know I will probably need the thinner ones, at least that is what I read somewhere. However, my question is...is it possible to do in older homes? I feel the blocks will provide any support that may have been lost when cutting the hole for the window to be installed. I am considering ordering from a company that can make the windows and ship them to you. Or would I be screwing up by doing this? My bathroom has one tiny window that provides absolutely no lighting in the bathroom and I like light as the house is dark anyways with all the paneling.
