Quality rating for Modular Homes

We have started our search for a retirement home and area.
This past weekend we had a 3 day/ 2 night stay in a 55+ community. We actually stayed in a nice modular home and had the opportunity to look at other models the next day.

My question is Who make high end home if not listed below?

Quality of these builders

1. Palm Harbor? (This is the home we stay a few nights)

2. Skyline?

3. Cavalier? Possible new vendor in the area we looked.

All of these build both manufactured and modular homes...If the Palm Harbor you stayed in was in a land lease (rental) community, It probably was a manufactured home...Of the three listed Palm Harbor is the only one with a 5 year factory protection term (basically a 5 year warranty)..In Florida the PH will be by far the best of the lot...Remember each of these build various models and each has different features and construction standards.. I would guess you stayed in a 1100 or 1200 series PH.. Remember PH makes most floor plans in less pricey lower series. Both other brands you mentioned might not even reach the 800 series of PH. Search these boards for mention of each of the brands for numerous posts about them all..Good Luck with your quest..

Where would I find information about the differant model series?
1100?
1200?

The homes we looked at had valted ceiling in LR/BR.
FYI
I lived in trailer 40 years ago for 3 years and now have atravel trailer. The PH I stayed in was no trailer but I want to understand the differant models

If you can find some time..Go by the plant along I-4 in Plant City and take a plant tour and look at the homes in the model village there..All model series are represented there..A trailer is that RV you have..A manufactured Home is what you stayed in....All PH models have vaulted ceilings in all rooms...

Sorry, I just read your other post, I had the wrong area of the country in mind...The series designations I mentioned were related to PH in Florida...In Washington the home would have been built in Oregon...PH as all other builders build different homes in each plant...Your 1st post mentioned Skyline, PH and Cavalier..This is how I got confused...These are all common products in Florida. Cavalier is NOT available in WA...For PH it would be useful to visit a company owned store there are 6 in WA.....Check out PH web site for more info and locations..

I think I hit a fast pace getting information about the home. We were very inprested with PH. At this time we live in rual Mississippi and do not have any up scale PH home in the area.

PH just recently opened a new store in Gulfport..They will have a few models in stock..but they will NOT be the models available in WA. The Gulfport models will have been built in Texas. Fin one of the plants on line and make a visit. Unlike many other manufacturers, PH welcomes plant tours..

I have found a PH store in Opelika, AL ( My orginal home town) and my Mother lives in Auburn just 7 miles away. Next visit home I plan to stop and look at models.

Also I would like to have a factory tour of PH.

This is a Palm harbor owned store but it DOES NOT now handle Palm Harbor Homes they now inventory Fleetwood and soon Cavalier Homes...Palm Harbor now has no plant serving AL, GA,TN the closet will be in Florida...But I would delay my plant rip till you go to Washington when you can tour the Oregon Plant to see those you could buy...

We are planning a trip for this Fall, I wanted to look at 4 55+ areas in the Spokane area. Do you know how many miles i is to PH plant?
