Hello

My husband and I are looking for a bigger place, we life in California, and we've come across a nice 1979 double wide mobile-home but we're not sure if it has any restrictions or needs special certifications etc.

I haven't been able to find anything on the internet yet nor anybody I could ask about it so I hope that someone here would be able to help me.

Thank you

Regards Amanda

There is NO special certification require..This home will have been built to the HUD code....My only suggestion for this and any 28 year old home..You should invest in a professional home inspection prior to purchase...Then GO FOR IT

Thank you for your reply.

Do you have any idea on how much the inspection would cost and what kind of company to contact?
After reading on this forum I already thought that it wouldn't be a bad idea, especially since we're totally new to everything and we really want to make sure we do everything the "right" way. We're also on a pretty low budget so we really can't affort huge mistakes.

My guess is that quality home inspections run about $300.00 in most areas of the country..

Most good trustworthy inspectors will be members of the American Society of Home Inspectors...

You can find them here...
