I have been looking on the web at the homes that our in my area (Arkansas) and then checking Mr. Grissim's book to see how they are rated. I found Oak Creek Homes will deliver to my area, they have a high rating and they have a seven year warranty. I email the company and had a response from a salesperson who tells me that they will sell me a home direct from the factory. This can save me thousands!! I will supply the delivery person, the set up person and the a/c person at my expense. Oak Creek will still give me the 7 yr warranty.
Hears my question: If I buy direct from the factory, use my people to deliver and set up, can Oak Creek tell me that the any problem with the structure is not their but how it is set up? And of course this will not be covered by warranty!

Re: Oak Creek Homes
In a nut shell...the answer is YES...The set crew will HAVE to have a state set crew license and often a county license...You would be beter to have a local dealer to take care of these things...Also most states require a dealer to handle the sales tax transaction....
Re: Oak Creek Homes
Even with well trained set crews and a knowledgeable retailer, disputes over responsibility for problems often come up. And you won't have the knowledge and experience to make your case. Or the order volume to hang over the factory's head that a retailer has. It's not that anybody is dishonest or trying to cheat anybody. Simple human nature dictates that when something needs to be paid for, we all want the other guy to pay for it. And sorting that out is a big part of what a retailer does.
