Hi,
My husband and I purchased a used 1983 (custom) Skyline Mobile Home single wide about 6 months ago. The mobile home is in pretty good shape but needs new windows. We have spent about $4,000 already in this home and are not sure if we should buy a new mobile home or keep this one and update and replace the windows. We have 14 windows all are a good size. We only got one estimate on replacement windows and that was $7,000. This price included doing the framing of the windows inside. My husband and I don't know if its worth putting this kind of money in this place or buy new. We live in a senior park and we don't know anyone here to ask their advice. Any advice you can give will be appreciated. Thank you for this site it's great.

Buy new or keep our used mobile home
Re: Buy new or keep our used mobile home
Sounds like you have been priced standard HOME replacement windows. You can purchase the exact same size as currently installed at a manufactured home supply and save substantially. 14 at an average of $150. = $2100.00. When you use the same window, you don't have all that additional trim out.

Thank you for the info. My husband and are were looking at Lowe's replacement windows today. We know we can get them cheaper than the estimate we have but we're not sure what we want to do. We would have to hire someone to install them also. As I said in the previous message we are considering buying a new mobile home. It's not only the windows but the mobile home is a 1983 and we don't know what will be next to fix. We had a large house and we downsized to a mobile home because we just got tired of all the repairs and upkeep of owning a home. We really like the mobile home but we're not sure if we want to invest alot of money in it or buy a new updated one.
