We want to move to florida. We want to move to the south west coast somewhere from ft myers to tampa. i have tried to get an estimate on insurance on a typical 3 bedroom manufactured home to no avail. they keep telling me to find a home i want to buy then apply. there must be some rule of thumb to go by to calculate insurance cost.until I know what the insurance cost is going to be i can't decide what I can afford. Can you give me some help?

Most insurance companies need an address to make a quote. This is due to rates being tied to a number of factors like how close your home is to the nearest fire department, how close to the ocean, and what losses have been in that local area in the past.
Find a place you might want to purchase and then try again. You can get a free quote on line at

Usually the communitiy owners or current residents can give you some estimates. I am looking in central FL and have been told rates are $100yr/$10,000 coverage. Again these are estimates

I LIVE IN OSCEOLA COUNTY FLORIDA, I OWN A 2005 MANUFACTURED HOME LOCATED IN A MOBILE HOME COMMUNITY AND MY INS. IS $1600.00 PER YEAR ( BECAUSE WE DO NOT OWN THE LAND) I ASSUME THAT MAKES A DIFFERENCE!
