Hello,
I getting rdy to move into my new, to me, 1996 homes of merritt manufactured home, 1500 sf double wide. I have never lived in a manufactured home and I am very concerned that the floor wont support the weight. The base on the tank is 4ft x 1.5 ft and holds 75 gallons.
Thanks in advance all
Chris
75g Fish tank ?
Re: 75g Fish tank ?
Everything I've heard about fish tanks and pianos suggests it is fine. Especially if you can put it over a floor joist over a steel I-beam.
Re: 75g Fish tank ?
Your tank weighs about 650 pounds that is spread over 4 foot of floor. I dont think you will have any problems. Your tank weighs less per sqft than your fridge. We have had several tenants that have had water beds in our MH rentals and have never had any support problems.

Re: 75g Fish tank ?
We have a 120 gallon fish tank, that sits on a solid oak stand along with the top canopy. We have moved it around a few times for decoratinq purposes and we have never had a problem. Our home is a 1998 Southern. The floors are very strong.

I have had several waterbeds in several different Mfg homes including the present time in my double wide which presently has two king sized water beds. I have never had any problems whatsoever. I have also had a fish tank of siniliar size to yours, in the same small bedroom as a waterbed. I really don't think you have anything to worry about. Go for it !!

floor live load
Manufactured homes are designed to support 40 PSF. so you will be overloading the floor.
Every home owners manual will tell you to at a support peir under the floor to support heavy items, like water beds, fireplaces, aquariums, my ex wife, ect.
be safe, not sorry.

MY 50 GALLON WATER HEATER IS FACTORY INSTALLED, HOW IS IT POSSIBLE NOT TO EXCEED THAT 40 LBS PER SQ. FOOT STANDARD? 50 GALLONS OF WATER WEIGHS IN AT ABOUT 400 LBS, AND THE WATER HEATER WEIGHS IN AT WHAT...60, 80, 100 LBS? SURE SEEMS THAT IN AN AREA OF APPROXIMATELY 4 TO 6 SQ FEET THE MANUFACTURER/BUILDER (2006 SOUTHERN ENERGY... A TRULY GREAT HOME, MIND YOU) HAS EXCEEDED THAT 40 LB. STANDARD...HMMM? AM I WRONG ? WOULD SOMEONE OF KNOWLEDGE PLEASE CLARIFY... THANX
