Post by Mike Strickland » Wed Dec 13, 2006 9:50 pm

i just recently bought a 1983 redwood made by empire i beleive. what i need to find out is what wind zone it is, the prior owner replaced all the cabinets doors and interior doors so the hud data sheet is missing now. i have checked the electrical panel and it is not there. is there any other way to tell the wind zone rating on this mh. it is a singlewide and i can get the vin off the title if that would help u out any. thanks for the help this will be the first home that me and my wife have bought. thanks alot Mike.

Welcome to the world of manufactured home owners....There is an organization charged by HUD to make official certifications about your home....IBITS is the name it goes by... This list of FAQ might be able to help you be sure to scroll down to the last question...Help probably can be found here...It is very likely a Wind Zone 1 home as are almost all homes outside of Florida..

Do you still have the HUD label? This number can be used by HUD to find the dataplate.

I recently bought a Mobile Home in a an Auction. It will take me some time to repair and fix it up and get inspected and approved to live in. Please suggest how to avoid rent to Park Owner till the repairs are done (a few months) and I move in. Also do I have to get a new lease contract with the Park owner?

If the home is in the park, you will have to pay..You are lucky most parks would not allow an unlivable home in....I am sure you will have to sign a lease....Few parks would rent the space without one...

Good Luck with the home..
