We have a 1998 Redman manufactured home. We've got 5 defective Alpine windows now, starting in 2005. Is there any class action suits going on about these windows that you know of?
We live in Klamath Falls, Or.
Thank You,
Larry Johnson

I am not sure what you mean by Alpine windows...but if these are thermopane..The useful life for most are only from 7 to 10 years after which the seals between the glasses deteriorates and allows the insulating gasses to escape...The first visible sign of the problem is water vapor inside the 2 glass panes...

Alpine's the brand name. What guarantee do they offer? I used to have Empire Pacific, which came with a lifetime guarantee. They were a pain to get an appointment from, until one leaked down my wall - and when I said "replace sheetrock" they came right out.
It's my understanding that a local glass company can install a new thermal pane.

I don't know of any lawsuits over them.

I went to the Alpine window website. The company that makes them is called Alside, and they are located in Bothell, Wa. According to the warranty information, the windows have a "limited lifetime warranty" covering a myriad of defects. However, there is no specific info about leaking windows. I replaced all of my aluminum windows with vinyl Milgard windows and they have a very comprehensive warranty. I have had a couple of them replaced already due to leaking between the panes. The windows were installed in 1990. Try contacting the company and see what they say.
