modular home purchasing question
modular home purchasing question
Hello everyone! I have a question about modular homes that I'm hoping someone will know the answer to! My fiance and I are thinking about buying land and purchasing a 2 story modular home to be put on that land. I'm curious - does modular home buying work like new car buying? What I mean is, can you "wheel and deal" with a modular home salesman the same way you can with a new car salesman? People rarely pay full price when buying a new car. Is that also true for modular home purchases? Any insight on this would be most helpful! Thank you!
Re: modular home purchasing question
This is NOT a car...It is a house...Would you spend a customer builders time and them suggest you could do better???...Shop this home and all its features including warranty, construction features, luxury features...Most of all be thorough in your investigation of the builder's reputation, financial ability and customer satisfaction....Shop for this purchase as much as you would any other major purchase...but do not cut off your nose to spite your face...You might consider visiting the book store here...Randy Eaton has a modular "How to buy" book that gets into all the aspects of the purchase....

Re: modular home purchasing question
No matter what the expert says here,YES you can negotiate a fair and equitable price just like any other home purchase.I am fortunate to live in Illinois within a stones throw of Indiana. There are alot of dealers with the same product within a days drive.YES they will "work with you" to sell a home.I have never paid the "FULL" price on a new modular or an existing home for that matter. You have even more negotiation horsepower if you are pre-approved for the home before making your purchase.
