man./modular homes

MY HUSBAND AND I WENT TO SEE HOMETOUR OF THE COUSIN'S GARY, MANUFACTORED HOMES IN REDDING, CALIF. WE REALLY LIKE THE STYLES LIKE REAL CUSTOM HOMES BECAUSE THERE IS DRYWALL AND NO FAKE LOOKING FEATURES AROUND THE HOUSES. WE LIKE THE SKYLINE MANUFACTORED OR MODULAR WITH 2700 SQUARE FOOT HOME.
WE DO HAVE A LONG CONSIDERING ON THIS PLAN TO BUY THIS HOME.
BUT I DO HAVE SOME QUESTION TO ASK.
ARE SKYLINES MANUFACTORED/MODULAR HOUSES ARE BEST QUALITY? WELL, FOR ME, IM KINDA SCARED FOR CHOOSING ALL KINDS COMPANY THAT MAKE MODULAR AND MANUFACTORED HOUSES LIKE SKYLINE COMPARE TO FLEETHOME OR WOODLAND.
WE DO THINK ABOUT HAVING PERMANENT FOUNDATION WHEN WE WILL BUY A LOT OR LAND IN NORTHERN CALIFORNIA,
IS THAT CORRECT THAT I SHOULD FIND OUT ABOUT PROPERTY TAX FIRST BEFORE BUYING THE LAND, WE RATHER BUY LEAST ONE ACRES. MY HUSBAND WILL BE RETIRED IN 2 YRS FROM SBC.
ANY IDEA? I HOPE YOU HELP US.

We have a Skyline manufactured home (Kingswood 2002, 2300 sq ft). It is a really nice home. The only complaints I have are cosmetic. The pressboard "fake wood" trim will peel if it gets wet. The bathrooms and kitchen floor get this way. Because the ceiling is one long piece, not separate rooms like in stick-built, it will get hair-line cracks. The floors "settle" over time so stay away from the Novadeck and use plywood. Find the best possible setup crew you can afford, and research your dealer because they both can make your purchase a nightmare. Do not pay until you are satisfied with the work.

dear scottman,
thank you so much for the information you gave me about skyline man. house. you seem enjoying that home but cosmetic problem you explained was I am bewared of that so I learned more this problem with fake woods and trims and bath/kitchen cabinets.
Did you have your home build on the foundation or above the ground? Which better you prefer to?
thank you,
