grandfathering a mh
grandfathering a mh
My parents mobile home was destroyed in the hurricane 2 years ago. They finally settle with the insurance in aug. They have my grand mother on the front of the property. and their mh sits in the back on the proptery. I want to know what I need to do to get my 92 year grand mothers mh grandfather in since her mh has been on this property since before 1987. In hillsborough county florida they are trying to give my parent a temp permit for her mh. But my parents have been on this property for 30 years...they are replacing their mh... We have fought with this county since Nov and just now got the permit to put the mh on the property.......Please Help..Thank you Jenny Pemberton
Re: grandfathering a mh
Sorry to hear about your grandmother's loss...Actually her old home WAS "grandfathered in" Which only means the home can stay there forever but cannot be replaced or repaired in the case of substantial damage....The only change to this rule would be through the county commission's..land use processes...They can give her a variance which allow her to violate the zoning regulations....County commissioners are political and respect the problems adverse press can cause them....Many counties will NOT give any zoning variance..but they can if they so chose...
A temporary permit would solve the most immediate problem but not forever...If grandmother move on or passes..the home will have to be removed....
