Depending on the age of the home the serial number may be stamped on the first steel cross member behind the hitch. Once you find that number you can contact the Institute of Building Technology and Safety at www.ibts.org and request a form to submit and they may be able to track the home even if the manufacturer is out of business. This all depends on the age of the home.
Also look for a small red plate near the rear of the home. The numbers on that plate may also be cross referenced to find the information you need

This would only matter if you are moving to a windzone II or III. The vast majority of the country falls in wind zone I. With out the data plate, and with that age home, the code was rewritten in 1994 regarding the zones, you will have aproblem. Go to the local code official in the county where the home is to be sited, and seek their advice on this issue.

How would I get information about my mobile home? I bought it used. I need to get some documents about it, made in 1983. Is there a website to go to get this information from the company. I dont know where the manufacture is located.
All I have is the serial # on title.

The home is over twenty years old. The retention period is long gone for the manufacturer, and this manufacturer has also been thru a bankruptcy proceeding, and then bought out by another entity. If the documents are not available from the previous owner, I think you will be out of luck.

Roy,
Can you tell me all of the locations where a HUD label could be located? i know about the label(s) on the end of home, paper label under sink on cabinet dorr(s), in bathroom, in master BR closet, etc. Is there a HUD number stamped antwhere on the frame as Tim pointed out about serial numbers? I do purchase and refinancing loans for MH's and sometimes the owners do not know these numbers or where to find them, especially if labels are removed, etc.
Thanks
Wally

You are lucky to be in Texas...The government has a great web resource on which sn"s and HUD numbers are listed..as well as tax info..You can search by owners names or seriel number...plus the full ownership records on the home...might be useful in proving the home has not been moved..

IBITS is the only official place to get lender letters..

Good Luck..
