Older home quality

I have been looking at buying my first mobile home. I am looking at double wides and have been limiting myself to newer homes made in the last 5-10 years. In my price range this leaves very few options.
Yesterday a salesman finally convinced me to take a look at a 1981 Holly Park (that was actually about 5,000 more than I want to spend) and I must say that it was the most solid feeling, house like mobile home I have yet looked at.
I am wondering if there is any reason I should not look at older homes now. I thought quality would be a big difference, that an older one would be very run down and in need of more work than a newer one but that doesn't seem to be the case judging by what I saw yesterday.
Any advice?
