doublewide roof peak misalignment

Post by Howard Reiner » Fri Nov 18, 2005 11:51 am

I just had a new Scotbilt doublewide Mfg. home installed in Okeechobee, Florida. Hurricane Wilma removed vinyl siding in the area of the peak and revealed a 3" misalignment of the two halves at both ends of the home. Due to the misalignment, the siding was not nailed properly and it blew away. Is there some way to do the repairs properly?

Call your dealer about the improperly set home...Your owners manual will have the number of the state inspection agency that monitors the HUD code...This home cannot be set right and the dealer or licensed set up crew should correct this.....

Thank you so much. I've been hearing that this is a normal problem but do not believe that. Your info is very, very welcome.

It is not at all normal for the end walls to be out of square by 3 inches...Call the state agency responsible to enforce the HUD regulations...

Call here..

I would think if the walls were 3 inches out of square..you would see this from the inside

This Scotbilt home does not have a cathedral ceiling. It has a flat 8' ceiling throughout and the inside walls are perfectly aligned. No problem is visible on the inside. The problem seems to be isolated in the area above the perimeter beam (proper term???) and is most apparent at the peaks of the gable at both ends of the home.

Thanks again. If this is not resolved with the dealer and Scotbilt, I certainly will contact HUD.
