I realize everyone has an opinion as to which MFH builder is best...however this is very new to us. We have purchased the buyers guide to MFH and also how to buy and save thousands.
We would love to hear from some owners of Fleetwood, Palm Harbor and Karsten homes. These are the ones that seem to have floor plans that we like...of course the retailers/dealers say their home is better than the others. Could or would any one be willing to shed some light on this for us. I realize that each brand has a high and low end home. Thanks for any input you are willing to share

I own a Karsten home built in Stayton, OR in 2003. In general, I like it very much - it was a good value and the quality is good. The only complaints I had were a couple of floor squeaks, the usual bit of trimwork that any house would have, and the fact that the center section roof is about 1/4" higher than the outsides, which is visible from outside. I also don't care for the Cresdek subfloor - Karsten would not do OSB or plywood.

Wife and I are looking at homes now. Would you recommend Karsten over Palm Harbor and Patriot's high end homes? We found a Karsten we really like but had never heard of them before. We have lived in a Palm Harbor for over 20 years.

Top of the line Palm Harbors have plywood floors......
I think I heard that Karsten just changed ownership with Clayton owning them now...

I purchased a Patriot off frame modular and am very satisfied with the structure and finish. You can order the plywood floors over the novadeck. You might have to ask a local dealer to show you the differences or find a house at another dealer to see the differences. I purchased the bluebonnet with almost all the upgrades imaginable and saved a bundle over a stick built house.(tile floors, 2x6 and 2x4 walls, R40/R21R11 insulation, fireplace, hardi siding). Very happy with it and it is energy efficient.
