how big of an airconditioning unit is needed to cool 2176 square foot manufactured home?

I would go with nothing less then a 3 ton unit, and would reccommend a 4 ton unit if your dealer offers it. Make sure you get a 4 ton coil if you get a 4 ton unit, a lot of dealers will sell you a 4 ton compressor with a three ton cooling coil inside. This will work, but it is like trying to put 6 gallons of water into a 5 gallon bucket.
Also you are not getting all that you pay for.

The data plaste in the home has complete heat loss stats on the home...it will also mention the largest a/c that trhe home is designed for...in warm climates you should get at least this size..but never larger

Check out the data plate in the home..

never get a larger unit that recommended for a home because they will not work correctly and will cost you in the long run.
