My whole house shakes

Hi There,

I am writing because I am at the end of my rope. We moved into our manufactured home (a single wide 14' by 60' 1989) about a year and 3 months ago. When we first moved in, the whole place seemed solid, but now, when I am in the back of the house, my husband can feel the house shaking in the very front. When you walk around everything shifts and shakes and it seems to be getting worse. I crawled around underneath the house while my husband walked around on top, but I couldn't see anything visibly shaking in the crawlspace. The house is sitting on concrete blocks with 2x4's as shims. Some of the 2x4's appear to be cracked, but there are no gaps between the house and the foundation. The boards do not appear to move or flex either, but it has definitely grown more pronounced in the last 6 months. Can you provide any insight into what might be causing this shaking?

Thank you,
Serenidy McDonald

Its possible some of the shims have either worked loose or have broken and need replaced. Do you have tie downs in place? Using enough tiedowns helps to hold everything together underneath. It is also possible that some floorboards got wet and have warped and are just floating so to speak. I cant really pinpoint your problem but youll definately need to do more investigating. Let us know what you find.
