i purchased a double-wide-used in 1994, my mom bought her 1 in 1993, her`s was new ,mine used, being a 1990 model, fleetwood. we both are just sick about our wood siding, which has already had to have work done on it and some replacements siding. we found out later there had been a class-action law suit about the durability of the wood siding. neither 1 of us for notified about this....now it looks bad , is causing rotting, molding, and other problems not to mention loss of value, which continues to go bad, my question is do you know why we were not notified and how can we find outmore info about this? any info would be greatly appreciated. shelby

I have been maintaining a gang of MH rental units for a number of years. We have almost every type of siding every used on manufactured homes but have the most problems with the hardboard sided ones. We use a product called T-111 (pronounced tee-one-eleven). Ask your local lumber yard what patterns they can get for you. It comes in several variations. Most look like Board on board in various widths. An exact match is possible sometimes but often you just need to use whatever you can get that looks closest to the pattern on the original siding. After you have made the replacements you will need to paint the entire home. With a fresh coat of paint it will be very difficult to spot the differences. You will have a much better replacement panels then the original hardboard type siding.

The courts have orders a class action payout to owners of all types of buildings that were sided with certain brands of hardboard type siding. If your Manufactured Home have hardboard siding that is swelling, rotting, or buckling? You might be entitled to a Cash Settlement! I was recently paid back over $1500 for repairs we had made to one of our homes. Find out if you qualify

Hardie Panel is an excellent replacement. James Hardie is the inventor. This stuff will probally match your pattern and comes 4 x 8. Stuff is like conc. rot proof.
