Hi all,
Our new mh recently arrived and installation will begin soon (I hope).
I noticed some installation materials that were recently brought into the home and saw anchors that had very small plates. They were the same size anchors that our 1978 Shult had, which we are replacing due to storm damage (se. fla). A small bobcat pulled the old ones out pretty easy.

The dealer said that they are to hud code, but I've been told by several people that larger ones are now used.

What's the experts take on this?
Should I let the dealer install the small ones?
Should I pay the difference for larger ones?

All anchors according to (refer to Section 15C-1)
"Rules of Department of Highway Safety andMotor Vehicles Division of Moor Vehicles" Mobile/Manufactured Home Installation Standards (Set-up, Inspection, Installer Licensing and Plumbing) must meet the current standards. These standards state that anchors must be hot-dipped galvanized as should any other steel hardware being used from ground to frame contact. Additionally, no anchor can be less than 4 feet in length and in some cases 5 feet depending on soil conditions and proximity to the water. Copies of Chapter 15C are avaliable upon request from the Florida Department of Motor Vehicles. I highly recommend that any manufactured home buyer obtain a copy and study it.
