Byrd Foundations

I am about to have a Skyline MH set up on a Byrd Foundation, and would like to get published information on the tests and certification that I have heard were done. The sales people said that some insurance companies will offer a discount for that type of foundation. They said that the state of Florida accepted the tests and certified its ability to withstand up to 200mph winds.

None of the insurance cos I have spoken with have heard about this and want some published info before they will consider a discount.

I need the insurance by mid June, so any leads to where I might get documentation of this certification would be appreciated. Thanks.

Has the footer been poured yet? The place where we purchased our home holds the patent on it, and from what we were told Acme Homes II in homosassa is the only dealer in Florida who use the Byrd footer system. http://www.acmehomesii.com/cfooters.html

Our home is sitting on the footer system now. Have you signed a contract with the dealer? If not then you should check out acme homes and talk to Steve.

If you want you can email us directly [email protected].

Hi Dave,

Yes we have signed a contract and the home is under construction. The footers have been dug for, but not poured yet.

There are several dealers in Florida who use the Byrd system. Our contract states that it will have a "Byrd Set". The dealer said that there are insurance companies that give discounts for Byrd Foundations. But I have not found an insurance company that knows about Byrd yet. So I am looking for published information to submit to an insurance company for their consideration.

Thanks for the response.
