PerformMax flooring Update

Post by scottman » Wed Apr 27, 2005 1:49 pm

I found some info online at www.huberwood.com. Can you explain this to me? The dealer said it would "strengthen the floor"... I'm not real familiar with flooring.

"PerformMAX is a highly engineered strand product designed to provide single-layer floors with increased strength and stiffness, ease of installation, and a smooth substrate ready for direct application of a variety of floor coverings. PerformMAX can be used directly under sheet and tile vinyl, strip and parquet wood flooring, and pad and carpet coverings, eliminating the need for underlayment with these products."

Ok now I'm really confused. As I'm reading this, I see Performmax IS the flooring that is used, not Novadeck. Yet in my stack of stuff from the manufacturer, I got a flyer for Novadeck. I paid about $400 for the Performmax upgrade and don't even know if I got it, if its worth it, or what it does. Supposedly TECO 5/8 inch is stamped on the flooring but I have to rip open the bellywrap to find the stamp?

Sounds like your floor isa novodeck...Take up a heat register and observe a cross section of the floor....

Looks like the floor you think you have is osb...looks quite different than pressboard...

sometimes it is just a matter of a lag bolt or a floor joist bolt needing to be tightened.

I think it is Performmax flooring, but they gave me the wrong brochure. I took up a register. I could see a tannish layer on top of and built into the floor decking. Performmax is supposed to be ready for any type of floor w/o a need to add any middle layer in between because it has this layer built into it. Novodeck does not from what I found out on GP web site. (Novoflor is sanded, novodeck is not). I know - too much information. Waiting for the manufacturer to reply to me, I'd grow old and die by then. What do you think?
