Musty Smell

Post by RJ » Wed Mar 02, 2005 11:44 pm

A pipe fitting underneath cracked. I don't know how long it leaked but I had a mess. Everything is dry now but there's a musty smell. What can I use to eliminate this odor?

Pouring bleach down all your pipes will help. Toliets, sinks, tubs,,,, all drains. You may also want to spread some lime under your home. Even though everything is dry, this will help absorb the odor at it's source, the ground under the home. You can also get the things you can place in your heating vents. This will help mask the odor until the bleach (which may take a few times of doing this) and the lime absorb the odors completely.

I meant to say pipe cracked underneath "kitchen sink". I let dry completely and sprayed diluted bleach for several days. I thought problem was solved but I'm beginning to smell odor again.
