we are getting ready to put vinyl siding on our older 24x60 mobile. It has clap board siding now which is of course going to pieces. is their any kind of wrap we could put under the siding to help with insulation? I have seen this plastic looking wrap put on older houses before they side, does anyone know if this is advisable?
will it swet under there? or would it be best not to put anything under the siding?
we could sure use alittle more insulation. their wasnt much put on here origionally.

any advice would be helpful.........

thanksuzy

Use either Housewrap or Tyvak for a mositure barrier under the vinyl. There both made by Dupont and available at any home supply store. It allows your house to breathe while shielding the sheathing on the house frm moisture. You can also use roofing felt but the housewrap is the safest way to go
Under any circumstances do not use plastic. It traps the moisture and causes rot problems done the road..
