Shingle Roof Warranty

We are buying a 1993 Schult on contract. I was told by the original owner that there was a 20 year warranty on the Shingles. I was wondering if anyone knows if that warranty is transferred to us. I need to chase up the original paperwork but Schult told me today that the warranty is probably not transferrable as we are not the original owers. Does anyone know about this? Thanks for your help in advance.

Typically shingle warranties are pro-rated so even if it was transferable, there would not be much value. Additionally, I never heard of one being transferred.
Shingle manufacturers are pretty tough, They will probably make you remove a few shingles, send them in for evaluation, they will reply (several months later) that the shingles are wearing normally and that if there is a problem, it is the result of improper installation.
