Answer the same for both brands..

1) title
2) data plate...on a wall in a closet or attached to the inside of a cabinet..it looks like this..

http://www.hud.gov/offices/hsg/sfh/mhs/dataplate.pdf

3),,stamped into the front (hitch side) cross member of the frame...stand at the place the hitch would be..face the home...the sn will be stamped into the front cross member to your left...usually about 6 inches from the very left corner..

The sn will be in all 3 areas on all homes..

Being built prior to the HUD code, there is no data plate. At that time, certain states required other certifications, such as ANSI A119.1. Is this the type of plate you are speaking to?

I am looking for a model and serial number on an 84 double wide. No luck in the closets, on the outside of the home on the corners, or anywhere for that fact. I really need this number in order to close on the home tomorrow. Title is not available, house was a foreclosure. Can't get insurance without this information...Any suggestions???

Many manufacturers used a split data plate during that time, look in the furnace cavity for a silver label, or in the electric service entrance panel door.
