Indies or Deer Valley???

We are purchasing our first manufactured home and have looked at so many. We narrowed our search down to these two - the Indies and the Deer Valley. We are working with 2 different dealers - each one not selling the other brand. They both seem to have similar qualities of construction from what we are told. We are wanting a 32x80 and these two are comparable in price. However, from what we are told, Indies has been in business for some time and Deer Valley is a new company, only 3 years old.

We have been unable to find much, if any, feedback on either home. If anyone could provide us with positive or negative feedback we would truly appreciate it.

If anyone could also do any type of comparison for us we would also appreciate that.

Also, does it help to travel to another state to purchase a home? Does it save any money? We live in south Louisiana and someone told us to go to Mississippi and purchase our home - we could get a much better price. Does this make sense to anyone???

Thanks for the info.

Karen

I have also been searching and these two are the ones that I have narrowed my choices down to also. Let me know what you find out.
I am dealing with two dealers in the Lafayette area. Who are you dealing with?

Just wanted to let u know that I also looked at homes in Mississippi. Found some great deals in Vicksburg on the Indies House. Quite a bit cheaper than here in Louisiana. Good luck with your purchase

We are also looking at Deer Valley and Indies, 2 different dealers in North Louisiana. Would it really benefit us to go out of state to make a purchase this large and what does this do to your financing?

Good question....finance should be the same...All companies are national and offer the same terms from state to state....

You do want to be careful about sales tax if there is any in LA...You will be responsible for the LA tax...some dealers in MS might have a LA tax number and report your sale to them...but be careful..if they do not, you might have to pay both MS and LA tax...

You will be a long way away from this small local plant...they will have some difficulty servicing your home...many smaller plants depend on dealers to help them with service...If your dealer is far away..he cannot..or will not run factory service...

Lastly...If you do buy from a distant dealer..be sure the set up crew has a LA licence...Without this your state government would not be able to help you with dealer problems....only factory problem...

There should be NO reason a dealer in MS should be able to sell the home at anything less than the local dealer...the freight from the plant did cost more...but..the delivery should be less..Shop the MS dealers and make offer locally for the same home at the same price...Good Luck
