refinancing due to divorce

Post by peggy » Tue Sep 28, 2004 4:01 pm

my husband and i divorced 5 yrs. ago. he signed over the home and land to me, however, the company i am financed with said his name would never come off unless i sold the place or had it refinanced. i am now remarried and mail concerning the home still comes in my ex husband's name. i would like to refinance it in my name so i would not have anything to deal with concerning him anymore. my credit is not the best in the world due to my marriage and divorce. however, i work and my spouse now works. i only owe about 15,500.00 on my home. the land is paid for. can you please point me in the right direction?

Try the finance section of this web site...there are many who will refi with real equity..

By the way...I do not mean to be nasty...but a divorce court does not absolve a person for their financial obligations...If you sign a contract and promise to pay...that is all the lender cares..A divorce judge cannot absolve you from your olbligation to your lenders..If you have paid your bills since the divorce..your credit would not be bad at all..
