Genesis is a branch of Champion and is a very high end home. I would highly recommend them. I have only seen one of their homes and it was in Texas, but I was absolutely floored when I saw it. Good luck.

Hi Susan,

Where are you buying the Genesis home? I'm having trouble finding a builder in the Phoenix area. I talked to the Gernesis factory in Chandler, AZ, and they said the closest builder was in Flagstaff! I'm trying to decide between a Redman or upgrading to a Genesis (same company). Did you look at both? I'd really be interesed to hear why you decided to go with Genesis.

And please do let us know how your house is coming along!

Have you considered a Discovery Custom Home...A system built division of Palm Harbor...Many are just as nice as the Genesis and are mostly sold and built by factory owned stores...Check any Palm Harbor location in your area or close by...

Murray--

I did look at the Discovery Homes, but they don't have a floorplan I like. And I understand that it's fairly expensive to make any major changes (like moving rooms around) in a modular. Do you happen to know if this kind of customizing is at all feasible in a Discovery?

Thanks,
Blair

PH factory dealership

After having worked for many years with small independent dealerships...It is very nice to have a large organization with a great corporate attitude working together as a team....

Since the system of government approval is different in every state...I would have a hard time answering this question...In our area...GA and SC..can take many months to approve a floor plan change and the company has to spend a large amount of money on engineering services just to apply for approvals...Because of that..we have been told that changes are possible...but the customer must be very serious...and they must be fully informed that the time frame is not in our hands..it will be in the states...The only additional costs would be those for the engineer and states fees to submit an individual plan..plus what would have been the regular price of a home like this..

I would suggest you talk to your local salesperson about the system in your area..

Discovery Custom Homes is an evolving line of homes...the long term commitment has been made by PH to build the best affordable home in the industry..and offer it nationwide (in the PH sales areas)...The roll out of the line has been very successful...New features..floorplans..elevations..are and will be added over time in an organized mannor...All with quality and customer satisfaction in mind..
If your shopping time frame is over a number of months..check in later for the new offerings in your area...

Good luck with your quest..

Murray,

Thanks again for all the good info. Much appreciated! And I will keep checking on the Discovery line, since I have several months before I have to make up my mind.
