HVAC install

Post by bryan » Wed Aug 18, 2004 5:55 pm

I am not happy with the furnace that came in my new home.I do hvac for a living and I what to replace the furnace that is in a closet with a package unit that will be located outside along with new ductwork. My ? is, will this break any hud codes and cause problems in the future if I decide to sell? I know your supposed to use a furnace that is approved for manufactured homes, but if Im placing the unit outside and running new ductwork there shouldnt be a reason it has to approved.Does anyone know the answer or were I need to go to find it?Thanks in advance!

You are ok...HUD does NOT address owner changes in the home and if the seal is on the home that is all the appraser in the future will look for..

I agree. HUD actually has a provision for appliances installed outside the building envelope. It would require an inspection if the factory shipped it, but you are ok doing it yourself.
