I got my modular set 'off frame'. I sort of assumed that they would simply send the frames back to the factory for credit/reuse. I drove by the other day and they had a for sale sign on them! Haven't called yet to see what they are asking for them. As I recall, they ask $450 a pair for axles, and each of these frames has 6 axles.

Why wouldn't they reuse these frames?

Oh, and some more..

Should I have gotten to keep these frames?
Or gotten a listed value credit for no keeping them?

No, Modular frames are not part of the modular home. They are just carriers.
As long as you are sure that you have a modular.
The frame is a part of a manufactured home, though.

Off frame was an option, one I paid considerably more for, because it changes the way the home is classified. I just found it had that they had a for sale sign on them.

The cost of transporting empty frames, is virtualy the same as the cost per mile to transport the home. Some times they can be "stacked" in twos to reduce the transport cost. In many cases, the cost to take them back to the manufacturing facility is greater than the expense to built new ones.
