Is there a resource available where the a unit could be identified; Make; Model; year of manufacture; etc., by breaking the serial number down.

No, it's not like the automotive world; rather, it's determined by the maker. A four-digit serial number would not be uncommon.

The only requirement in formulation of the serial number, is that the manufacturer be identified, and that the state of manufacture be identified. This of course is done with abbreviations. Some manufacturers include other information in these abbreviations, but that is not mandatory. Code section 3280.6

I have lost the title to my mobile home, I do have the serial # off the tongue - how would I go about finding the make/ model/ year. It says Marvel above the serial #. It is probably atleast mid-70's.

The easiest path is to apply for a lost title with the division of motor vehicles, or whatever is the correct agency in your state.

I purchased my home as a foreclosure sale and the title was retired or something like that and all I have is the deed to the property but I can't get it insured without the serial number and have no idea where to look. I have tried the kitchen cabinets, and under the house and the utility room. The only numbers I found was a metal plaque on the side of the house with NTA followed by some numbers is that it? How do I know what the serial number is? Thanks for your help!
