Does anyone know if Marlette Homes are any good?
I have been in my home only 4 months and the corners of my walls where the wall boards meet are cracking. There are also cracks in the wallboards near the ceiling. Marlette says they will repair all this at the end of my first year but it really looks awful

My home also has substantial cracking. It is due to settling. My house was installed last October and I was told that the factory will fix all of the stuff before my year is up. We have pretty cold weather up here and pretty hot in the summer. I figure by about Sept. the house should have moved about as much as it will so I will have it fixed then. I have heard that Marlette homes are very well built homes. The contractor who set up my house stated this as he was working on my house (valley Quality home).

My advice is check the supports under the home. I had the same problem and one support at the hitch end along the marriage line was never put in. It is a column so it supports the roof and trusses. Because it wasn't put in, the corners buckled about a quarter inch. AFter putting the support in and patching, the problem went away.

I have lived in my Marlette Home since May 1984. I live in Southern Maryland. That makes almost 20 years. It has held up well. The walls are all panelling. I did not have time to order and took one on order that was to be a model home. In the begining I did have problems. Marlette corrected everything. They replaced the shingles on the roof, because they were manufactured with a defect. IKO roofing took care of that. Marlette and Monsanto decided between them who would pay to have the house resided. It came with T-111 siding, and the nails popped in transit. Then the T-111 started to warp. The vice president of Marlette and a vice president of Monsanto met on my porch and worked it out while the Marlette workers took that T-111 off, put new Tyvek and vinyl siding on the house. They did other smaller things, too. This all happened in the first two years.
I stumbled on this site looking for a new home, for vacations. I have no intention to sell my current Marlette. I've looked at what is available in other places and found it isn't as well built as a Marlette to begin with. Makes me wonder about moving the one I have to a new location.
