HUD approval

How am I able to get a certificate showing that a double wide is HUD approved? The permit was purchased just prior to June 1976 or else I wouldn't need this certificate.

Actually you cannot get such a thing...If the home is HUD approved... (you are right on the edge of the new code..those built AFTER 6/76 are HUD homes..those built by the factory before are probably not)...it will have HUD seals on the home...little red seals one of which would be located left of the front door (when facing the door) at the very end of the home..usually about 6 inches from the top of the bottom trim...If the seal is there...you are ok..

There would also have been a HUD dataplate on the wall in a closet, laundry room or cabinet door...often they don not make it this long..

You can go here to see what it looks like..

HUD has a web site that addresses this issue..

Are you given a HUD dataplate at Closing? I have been told that I would get a copy.

It is posted on the wall at the factory..I have never seen a copy in the closing materials...but..it would be a good idea..maybe your manufacturer has them in the homeowners packet..
