Next best alternative to ceiling vents

So far in my quest, an Oakwood dealer showed me a Freedom Home which supposedly had a good ventilation system. Floor vents were placed in a circular pattern around the home rather than down a straight line. He said that would promote circulation of air. Add a few ceiling fans to draw the air up and it'd keep the place cool enough.
Now I wasn't real fond of the Freedom manufacturer. But is their circular ventilation system a good alternative or was the sales rep just handing me a line to pacify me? Any advice on a good alternative would be appreciated, as it looks like I'm not going to get my ceiling vents unless I go with a Cavco home.
BTW, I've seen the following manufacturers: Fleetwood, Palm Harbor, Oakwood, Karsten, Golden West, Schult, Freedom, and a few others I can't seem to remember. Monday I'll be going to another Palm Harbor dealer, Clayton, and Cavco....if I can fit that all in in one day.
