We own property in a MF home community that has a beautiful single unit with a glass enclosed porch. We are 'snowbirds' at present but plan to move permanently to this community by the fall., at which time we will be having a double wide home built on our property. We have invested a lot of money fixing our single up (new appliances, decorating, furnishing, new carpeting, etc.) and would like to sell it to someone who would move it to their site. How do we go about doing this? We are sellling the house ....not the property. Also, from a financial point of view, where do we look for a new home to be built. There are several 'showrooms' in our area but we have been advised to eliminate the 'middleman' and go right to the factories. Is this correct? Would we save much by doing so? Any information you can give us would be appreciated.

Since you only want to sell the home,it is a single wide and it will have to be moved you are probably going to have difficulties selling it.Used single wides are hard to find financing for.Run a ad in your local paper and be creative in listing it.Don't know what you want for it, where your region is or how old it is but you most likely are not going to get what you think it is worth.

New MF homes are sold thru dealerships only.You cannot go directly to the factory and buy one.It is a very good idea to be as informed as possible before making the decision on what brand and where to buy a home from.There are several books for sale from this site which can help you become educated and save you dollars and problems down the road.

Where we live (NW Oregon) singlewides are in some demand by local farmers for use as migrant housing. That may be another option.
