How critical is it that the marrage line (as observed from under the house) be tightly fitted together?
The marriage line had an average onew inch gap. Thre was one area that was together for about 2-3 feet. It was forced together by a lag screw. It actually cracked the wood.

chris there is a tolerance for th marriage line. i have set some homes where the gap would look bigger from the bottom than it actually was at the top . some homes are made to where the wallboard inside will lip below the marriage line so that it comes to gether. with 3/8 sheetrock this would be 3/4 of an inch. the biggest concern is the seal ,is there insulation or foam that seals the marriage line? that is main concern.
