Buying New
Buying New
Very confused. Been looking at Doublewides Champions and Fleetwoods. Wanting to get the best quality for the money. And want it to last. It is really hard. We have been doing our homework and have found alot of interesting factors. We live in the NY area. Cold winters and very windy.I know that a lot of manufactures are trying to cut corners. Using low quality products. We know about the insulation ,wiring, headers (single vs. triple). We are still looking. So far we really like a Champion. But need to get more warranty info. Does anyone have any suggestions. Who is the number one best quality home manufacture for the East Coast? This is a really big investment for us. And dont want to make the wrong choice.
Re: Buying New
I recently purchased a new Fleetwood D wide in the mid $50's with some upgrades. The quality of materials is fair, but I knew that going into the deal.
I must say though that their warranty service is poor. Requests for service go ignored until legal threats are made.
I live in the southeast. Good Luck!

Re: Buying New
Check into Burlington homes of Maine. We looked at MANY homes and these things were rock solid. They have an excellent reputation. I saw one in the real estate ads that was a 1983 and it still looked great and was selling for close to what a starter home would go for. We plan on buying one of their modulars in the spring. Good luck! Val
