My wife & I have been interested in starting a h.u.d. & modular dealership for one manufacturer. Is there any independant info on the do's and don'ts. We live in Indiana and are going to start this project in late spring or early summer.
We have also heard about the repos that are available. I have heard of auctions, one is supposed to be in Indiana. Any info on the pro's and con's of repo's ?

Any help or info would be of help.
Sincerely,

A couple of things you should do...

First...join the Indiana Manufactured Home Association..
INDIANA
Indiana Manufactured Housing Assn.
Mr. Rob Lynch,
Executive Vice President
3210 Rand Road
Indianapolis, IN 46241
(317) 247-6258
(317) 243-9174 fax

You can do this now...

There is an auction link on this web site...check it out...but repo prices have been rising in the last few months and will probably be much higher by the time you are ready to start...You will have to do some local market surveys to see what is good for your area..

Subscribe to the free industry trade magazines..the Journal and Manufactured Home Merchandiser...

Subscribe to this sites mailing list...Also free..

Your choice of product is the most important part of your descision...If you choose to be exclusive to one manufactuers..They should be offering substantial deals....Compare the product and deals from all manufacturers in your area...Many dealers do not want exclusive deals...because you are totally dependent on one companies policies...many dealer handle product from 2 or 3 factories because of this problem...

Above all....ask questions of all you can find to help...Good Luck
