buying a lot model

We have been looking at a small, high quality three section Fuqua home. The dealer has offered us the lot model, which is ~ 2-3 years old for a substantial discount over a new model. The model appears to be in great shape EXCEPT - when they took it to a home show they sliced the log siding on the sides to save time when taking it apart. I have several questions.
1) Is a lot model of this age still under warrantee? With the siding damage? The normal warrantee for these homes is 5 year.
2) The price they offered is FOB. They do not appear to want to do the tearing down and setting up, and indicated that the price did not include siding repair. Does it sound like this house is a liability? That is, when a dealership doesn't want to do the set up - does that indicate that they don't want to take responsibility for the eventual quality of the house?
3) What should we look out for in a home that has been moved more than once...as in its been to a home show and been on a lot for two years?
4) Would there be any problems (financing or structural) with leaving the siding as is for awhile? We are financing it with a land equity construction loan.

Usually home warranties start from the date you buy the home..if you are buying it from the original dealer...If you have questions about that...call Fuqua with the seriel number and ask them...Talk to the service manager..Although they told you they had this home in a show...it actually sounds like a dealer repossession..if so the factory has no warranty obilgation and the home should be sold as used...this would explain its usually low price and the reluctance of the dealer to set it up...He has not trim kit to finish the home..

I have never heard of a dealer selling a home FOB....proper set up is key in all homes and triple sections are some of the most complicated to set..this will require a VERY experienced crew..almost all warranty problems are set up oriented..set up of this type of home can be very expensive...

The dealer might be shirking his responsibility with the logs because they are discontinued (even if available these things are really expensive)...this is very possible..and not available to be replaced...for the dealer..this would mean replacing all of the siding...if the logs are cedar..they will have discolored over time and never will be able to be matched...

Of course the cut logs will not be under warranty..

I might buy the home...but I would not buy it without the dealer doing the set up..As I said..warranty of most items in the home is dependent on the set up...
