Having a home Built

Post by Ted and Florence Dyer » Thu Sep 11, 2003 3:58 pm

My family would like to have our dream home built. We are planning to purchase a traditional Victorian design, 4 bedroom mainlevel style floor plan. We own a 3 bedroom ranchstyle home in Mount Morris township. We are planning to sell the Mount Morris home we are living in because we need more space. We have already picked out the type of floor plan we want. The plans are at www.eplan.com #HEC130033. It will be more than enough room for us. Right now we only have one bathroom, but we have a lot of land at the Mount Morris location. We would like to move out of the Mount Morris area completely. We were going to rentavate. But with us not being certain if we wanted to remain in the area we decided not to build.
We want the plans of the 4 bedroom, 2 1/2 bath, livingroom, family dinning room, familyroom, 3 car garage, with adjacent workshop.
My question to you is can you give us an estimate of what something like this would cost? Or is it wise to create this type of home in a MH floor plan?
We are planning to purchase land to put the manufactured home on. We are looking into the Clio, Flushing, Burton or Grand Blanc areas as possibilities.

That type of floor plan is not unique except for the garage/workshop which are built on site and I have not seen a 1/2 bath although I am sure there are some. There is a very broad range of pricing for MH from mid 20 to upper 40's per square foot depending on what you want so you are looking at 50k-100k, wide spread but there are reasons for the difference and quality costs.
