HUD Law

I am under the impression that since mfg homes are HUD approved, then a city agency must accept the plans as is and cannot force changes in structural issues. Is that correct? Is so, do you know where that law is referenced so that I may get a copy. I am working through a city agency to build my home. Having just applied today for the permit on the foundation, I want to be prepared for and future problems.

Thanks for your help,

It is true that if the city accepts manufactured homes..they cannot require a change in the construction...but they can require cosmetic items or limit the size or width of the home...

Such as a minimum square
footage ...roof pitch...exterior materials...even some have required garages...

Many zoning laws do not allow manufactured homes at all...

The real question is do they know you are buying a manufactured home..if so have they mentioned any special rules..best to talk to them about this...fighting Uncle Sam in court can be very expensive...much better to deal with the actual facts...
